Atelier
Every Idyllic piece is cut and finished by hand. For made-to-measure and fully bespoke commissions, we welcome your enquiry at the atelier.
The Process
Four quiet steps, taken slowly
The Conversation
Begin with a private appointment in our atelier or by correspondence. We listen to what is sought — silhouette, occasion, the rhythm of how a piece will be lived in.
Fabric and Form
From the fabric library — Italian silk crepes, Japanese cotton silks, Belgian linens — a selection is made. Sketches follow, then a calico toile.
Cut by Hand
Each piece is cut by a single hand and passed to the seamstress who will see it through to the final stitch. Six to ten weeks, typically.
The Final Fitting
We meet again — for the final adjustments, the hem, the closure. The piece is hand-finished and pressed before it leaves the atelier.
The Library
A small inventory, considered
Italian silk crepe, Japanese cotton silk, Belgian linen, hammered silk satin, wool gauze. Around forty fabrics in total. Each chosen, kept, and used.
